Blastoff

Hey, we did it. We officially launched our site earlier this week, but let’s just say we’re happy it wasn’t a rocket we were launching. Many things went smoothly: the site works–no bogus links, we received lots of positive feedback, and I created a neat little application to email the announcement. However, we also discovered that it’s not a good idea to program a loop that sends out 300 emails in the matter of a few seconds. To most passersby that’s called spamming, so hosting companies place a limit on how many emails can be sent out in a given time frame. Luckily, we realized that some of our emails didn’t go through, and I was able to track down a log of the failed attempts. Crisis averted.
